Halifax Affordable Housing Community Land Trust
A Community Land Trust is a potential solution to support long-term affordable housing in a sustainable and equitable way. United Way Halifax is engaged in a project to look at how a CLT could work in Halifax Regional Municipality.

About this project
This project is a collaborative community effort, with funding from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation under the National Housing Strategy. The values of equity, diversity and inclusion are woven throughout the project, to create housing solutions that benefit marginalized communities that are disproportionately impacted in our current housing crisis.
United Way Halifax is leading this project with the support of Davis Pier Consulting, Halifax Regional Municipality, the Housing and Homelessness Partnership, CLT 902, Housing Nova Scotia and David Slipp – Stewart McKelvey Law.
Advisory Committee recruitment
We are currently recruiting for the HRM CLT Advisory Committee. This Advisory Committee will guide the development and implementation of the HRM CLT. It will also ensure the CLT upholds its mission of providing safe, appropriate, and permanently affordable non-market housing to low-income residents.
A wide variety of skills and experiences are needed for the advisory committee. Please read the full Guide for Applications for more details. The deadline to submit is May 6, 2024. Applications must be submitted by email to the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator, Michelle Johnson at mjohnson@unitedwayhalifax.ca.
